Alfamar Beach & Sport Resort ****

Situation: The complex is about 50 metres from the golden sandy beach of Praia da Falésia. Links to public transport can be found in the immediate vicinity. Restaurants, bars and nightlife can all be found about 5 km away. Albufeira, with its old town and shopping opportunities, is about 13 km away. The nearest train station is some 25 km away. Faro Airport is about 30 km away.

Lodging: The complex offers basic and simple accommodation. The bungalows have a terrace overlooking the gardens, while the studios come with balconies. A bathroom, satellite/cable TV, kitchenette, central heating and a safe deposit box all come as standard.

Services: The complex has 76 studios and 92 bungalows (35 one-bedroom and 57 two-bedroom) with simple and basic decoration. The studios are distributed across two 4-storey buildings located next to the bungalows. It offers 24-hour reception, a hairdressers' salon, a bar, a restaurant and laundry service.

Board: Bungalows and studios are self catering. However, guests with bookings for half/full board will have meals in the hotel restaurant.

Sports: The complex has a sports centre with 15 tennis courts, volleyball (subject to fees), a running track, gym and 3 football pitches (extra charge). All guests staying at the complex can use the facilities at Alfamar Beach and Sport Resort (sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, poolside snackbar, sun loungers/parasols and hot tub). The nearby beach is sandy. The nearest golf course is about 2.5 km away. Entertainment and activity programmes for both young and old also feature.

How to arrive: Coming from Faro airport (35 km) leave the highway Via do Infante and head towards Boliqueime. At the roundabout (about 3 km) turn left for Faro. Take the 1st turn off for Albufeira (sign is also for Oura and Olhos d'Água). After the turning you will pass a BP petrol station, after which you turn left for Alfamar Beach and Sport Resort. Follow the main road as far as a larger T junction. Turn left and then immediately right, following the brown signs for Praia da Falésia and Rocha Baixinha. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit.
